Iniciativu za pojmenovani pražského letiste jmenem Vaclava Havla (obdobne, jak je letiste v N.Y. pojmenovano po J.F. Kennedym, nebo hlavni letiste v Parizi po Ch. de Gaullovi apod.), můžou, všichni podpořit tím, že se k němu přihlásíte na stránkách

Čím nás bude více, tím intenzivněji můžeme působit na kompetentní orgány. Myslím, že současní politici nedokáží ani částečně naplnit jeho morální odkaz a tak by alespoň měli vyhovět této smysluplné a logické aktivitě.

Ze zkušenosti "sametove revoluce" vime, ze pokud se tato iniciativa rychle nezrealizuje, vse se zase zrelativizuje, zpochybní a zapomene.
Žel, závist, zloba, nenávist a česká malost přežije Václava Havla.

Zatímco hodnota různých pomníků nebo poslaneckých usneseni může být pochybna, tento konkrétni a realny krok by mel svoji skutecnou, ne jen formalni hodnotu, která by do budoucna zila i v našem beznem zivote a zivote pristich generaci, pricemz by také byla lakmusovym papirkem naší demokracie - při jejim ohrozeni by totiž prave jmeno Vaclava Havla bylo asi odstranovano jako prvni.

Proto vnímám právě pojmenování vstupní brány do naší země za důležitý krok, který zachová jeho odkaz v našem běžném životě a zároveň ukáže nám teď i pravou tvář všech politiků, kteří v této emotivní chvíli se k němu tak hlásí - ale za pár týdnů už možná budou zase kolem sebe jen plivat.

I am a local screenwriter and am seeking production in the Bay Area of AN AU PAIR ODYSSEY, an independent feature film that will feature actors with Czech and Slovak ancestry.

AN AU PAIR ODYSSEY is the story off three au pairs, one each from the Czech Republic and Slovakia as well as Poland, who meet and becomes friends in the US, experience the country and it's culture and have an interest in trying to understand "American males", as diverse as they are, for better or worse. It is a drama with action and humor and will be rated either G or PG. It is a full length feature film and has been read favorably by those with ancestry of the above mentioned countries and has good potential for release both in the US and internationally. I am a produced writer for the stage, e.g. NECKLACE, a musical, Google: Dale Porter, Necklace and have written four feature screenplays. There are many successful people in the movie industry from these countries- the challenge is in making contact with them.

Memories of Slovakia

Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, DC and the Friends of Slovakia are planning a special art exhibition at the Slovak Embassy in November to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution and to recognize Slovak artists whose paintings are now in the United States. We hope you will participate.

The exhibition, Memories of Slovakia: Slovak Paintings in American Collections, will showcase works by established Slovak artists now owned privately by Slovak Americans and others with ties to Slovakia. The exhibition will run from November 7, 2009 to mid January 2010.

We invite you to participate in this event by lending up to three (3) works from your personal collection. The paintings – oil, watercolor, or mixed media – should be no larger than 1 m x 1 m (40” x 40”). Although the Embassy does not carry insurance coverage for its exhibits, security is excellent. You may, however, wish to check that your insurance covers your paintings while on loan as is the case with many homeowners’ policies. The Embassy will store, hang, and display the paintings. Participants are asked to deliver their selected works to the Slovak Embassy prior to October 15th.

Please submit one form for each painting, along with a color photograph, to Michal Pavuk at the Slovak Embassy (see address on the attached form). The deadline for receipt of submissions is August 28, 2009. A committee of Friends of Slovakia art experts will review all proposals to ensure both high quality and broad representation of Slovak artists. We also ask that all participants prepare a brief statement of the painting’s provenance, how it was acquired and what it means to the collector.

We hope all the exhibitors will join us here in Washington for the exhibit’s festive opening on November 7th. We will recognize your participation in the program and in person. And, we encourage you to talk with the guests about your entries.

Though the school does not require it, I would like to try to learn a little Czech before I go. Even if I don't get into the school I would still like to learn the language as so many of the worlds great glass casters are Czech. I was traveling around and found work here and since have fallen in love and have especially enjoyed learning the language. Hledam fajn usmevavou, inteligentni divku, nekuracku s dobrou fyzickou. Pokud jsi hezka tak to je urcite plus ale neni to podminkou, ja verim ze kazda divka je vlastnim zpusobem hezka. Davam prednost hezkemu usmevu, vntrni krase, loajalite a laskavosti. Hledam zenu ktera bere veci s nadhledem ale da se na ni spolehnout, zenu ktera stoji na zemi a umi si uzit jednoducha poteseni kazdodenniho zivota.

Me je 35 let, jsem 192cm vysoky inzenyr. Jsem dobry muz s velkym srdcem a vyborny posluchac kteremu zalezi na dulezitych vecech a nenecha se rozhazet malickostmi. Mam dobre vzdelani, jsem financne zabezpeceny. Pochazim z Ceske Republiky, z Moravy, v USA bydlim poslednich deset let. Vim jak byt uspesny, jsem inteligentni a premyslim dopredu, loayalni, optimisticky, vasnivy a laskavy. Dokazu se zapalit pro dobrou vec, jsem prakticky a verim ze jeden dokaze udelat cokoliv co si umi predstavit.
Jedna z mych vasni je cestovani, rad bych nasel nekoho kdo pojede se mnou! Jsem dobrodruh ktery rad objevuje nova mista, pamatky a pametihodnosti.

Umim se tesit z drobnosti – zapad slunce na plazi, romanticka prochazka lesem, bezchybny vyhled z horskeho vrcholu, dlouhe polibky pod hvezdnou oblohou, romanticka vecere pri svicce anebo divani se spolecne na film.
Jedina vec ktera mi momentalne chybi je nekdy s kym bych tohle vsechno mohl sdilet. Partnerka v dobrem i zlem, budu tam pro tebe pro Tebe kdyz si potrebuje poplakat na rameni. Vim jak se k zenam chovat s cestne a s respektem. Napis mi a nebudes litovat.

I live in San Francisco and I am hoping that you may either have some info that could help me or that you could put me in contact with someone who does.
My Grandmother who is about to turn 94 is living in Florida but she is originally from the Czech Republic. In her old age she is having trouble remembering to speak English and her caretakers are having trouble understanding her. My parents and I are hoping to find an elderly care facility somewhere in the U.S. that has the ability to speak to her in Czech. My parents provide the majority of her care but they work full time and are finding it hard to keep up so she is living in an elderly care facility.

If you know of anyplace or anyone I might contact regarding this type of thing I would be very grateful! Also if you could list my note on your website for other readers to see that would be a great help.

I came across your name on the BayCzech website and I would appreciate any assistance you can suggest.

I am sponsoring my cousin in Czech Republic to come study here on a student visa. She is set for Las Positas College in Livermore (I live in Pleasanton) and she has completed all of her visa application paperwork. Her embassy interview is next week on Wednesday.

I'm wondering if your group includes any Czech students or members who might have any suggestions for a successful interview from their experience?

Also, I'm interested to know if there are members or other Czech contacts in the East Bay area who might help welcome her after she comes in December. She is fairly fluent in English. Las Positas College does not have any Czech students currently, so looking for options that may help ease any adjustment or for social contacts.

just moved recently to SF from Prague to study 8 month programme at Aspect College. I'm looking for furnished/unfurnished room in a apartment with max. 4 roommates (could be sublet or temporary)

Hoping to keep the price tag 650 and under but will consider to change that for the right people/place. My school is at the Financial district area so I would like to find some place close public trans., Muni or Bart. Don’t know the area yet, so good advice is always welcome.

I am mature, very easy going, fun to be around with, respectful, not moody and NO drama. Sometimes I like to hang out, to go for a beer or good vine, watch movies home, into culture, music and art, like to cook.

I try to be clean, contribute to the household, always pay my bills on time, and respect other roommate’s privacy. I do recycle and conserve energy in the house, but don't worry; I don't push other people to do so. I don't bring parties home.
